Missions team of the New Life Church returned from Kenya
Our church has been cooperating with a local Christian mission organization for several years. This time, Christians of Belarus organized a three-day children’s camp, a youth conference in “Pefa” church and led an outreach campaign, all for the purpose of delivering the Good News to teenagers and kids.
The youth conference, called “Relations & God’s plan” was devoted to the vital topic of relations with God, close people and relations at work. Maria Semyrenko, Vasily Denisov, Alexei Yazykov, the ministers of the “New Life” church were main speakers. The conference was attended by youth leaders and ministers of local churches, although a heavy rain prevented some people from attending the conference.
160 children participated in the activities of the children’s camp. The missionaries let bible lessons, creative activities, and various outdoor games. Each kid had an opportunity to consolidate the stories learned during bible lessons through making crafts, memorizing bible verses and doing experiments.
On the last day of camp, Belarusian team prepared a real celebration for the participants. All young participant received school backpacks as a gift, and older children each got a set of school supplies; however, the children seemed to be especially excited about the air-balloons. Many expressed their excitement by saying that it was the best day of their lives.
The outreach services took place in the suburbs of Mombasa, a very poor area, called Mzarbanauni, where many families profess Islam. As a result, more than 200 children and teenagers joined the local church.
Each person on the mission team was useful and valuable in his own way: some oversaw the musical part of the events, some were leading games and activities, some were preaching, and others used their skillful hands do maintenance work on the mission and school grounds. There was enough work for everyone.
Alexey Yazykov, a permanent participant in missionary trips, a member of the New Life Church said, “Each of us has a talent, with which we can serve Jesus and our neighbors.”
